Dubai's World Green Economy Summit is redefining the region's role in the global energy transition, with $2.3 trillion in worldwide investments projected for 2025 and a focus on scaling up renewable capacity and economic resilience.

Dubai's World Green Economy Summit has moved the conversation from climate ambition to hard economic reality. The event, held under the patronage of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is no longer just a showcase for environmental ideals-it is now a strategic platform where policy, finance and technology converge to deliver measurable results.

What's at stake? The global race for green competitiveness. With worldwide investment in energy transition forecast to hit $2.3 trillion in 2025-up from $1.8 trillion just two years ago-Dubai is positioning itself as a central node in the new economic order. The summit's organisers, including the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA and the World Green Economy Organization, have spent 12 years building a forum that now attracts decision-makers, investors and innovators from across the globe.

Scaling up renewable power in MENA
The Middle East and North Africa region is no longer a bystander in the clean energy revolution. Operational renewable energy capacity has reached 43.7 GW, with more than 200 GW in the pipeline. This surge is not just about environmental targets-it is about building economic resilience and securing a competitive edge as global markets shift towards sustainability.
Dubai's approach is pragmatic: bridge the gap between policy, finance and technology, and turn climate pledges into projects with real-world impact. The summit's agenda for its twelfth edition, scheduled for 21-22 October 2026 at Dubai World Trade Centre, is built around four pillars: energy technology and infrastructure, sustainable business strategies, water and food security, and finance. Artificial intelligence, governance, and enabling economic systems-such as supply chains and the circular economy-run as cross-cutting themes.

From pilot projects to global scale
The summit's new focus is on scaling up. It is not enough to prove that green solutions work in isolation; the challenge is to build integrated systems that deliver global impact. This means expanding successful models, forging robust partnerships, and ensuring that institutional and human capacity can translate knowledge into sustainable projects.
Dubai's green economy agenda is not just rhetoric. The city's ability to convene global actors and drive practical outcomes has made it a reference point for governments and markets recalibrating their priorities. The summit's track record is clear: it has helped move the region from climate aspiration to implementation, with a growing portfolio of renewable projects and a clear pathway for scaling up.
As the world enters a critical phase in the energy transition, Dubai's World Green Economy Summit is setting the pace. The message is unambiguous: green transformation is now a prerequisite for economic competitiveness and resilience. The next summit will test whether the region can move from isolated achievements to systemic change. If Dubai's recent momentum is any indication, the city is not just following the global shift-it is helping to define it.
