Why Corrections Matter

News and practical information can change quickly. Government rules, fees, company information, project status, transport arrangements, property data and other details may also be revised after publication.

Corrections and updates help distinguish between information that was wrong when published and information that became outdated later.

How to Report an Error

Please include where possible:

• the article URL;
• the specific statement, number, date or detail in question;
• a short explanation of the suspected error;
• a reliable supporting source, official record, dataset or document;
• contact details if follow-up may be useful.

The most useful requests identify a specific factual issue rather than simply stating disagreement with the article.

How We Review a Correction Request

1. Identify the disputed statement and determine what the published article says.
2. Review the original source material used for the article.
3. Review the new evidence supplied by the reader or source.
4. Check additional official records, responsible organisations or reliable data where necessary.
5. Assess whether the issue is a factual error, a matter of clarification, a later change in circumstances or a disagreement that does not require alteration.
6. Make an editorial decision based on the available evidence.

Possible Outcomes

A correction request does not automatically result in a published change.

Possible outcomes include:

• a factual correction;
• a clarification;
• an update reflecting changed circumstances;
• a minor non-material edit;
• no change where the available evidence continues to support the article.

Correction Notes

Where a correction materially changes a reader's understanding of an article, an explanatory correction note may be appropriate.

A correction note should identify the material change sufficiently for readers to understand what was corrected.

Minor spelling, grammar, punctuation or formatting changes that do not affect meaning generally do not require a separate correction note.

Updates

Articles may be updated when:

• a government rule changes;
• a future decision takes effect;
• a fee or price changes;
• a company or project changes status;
• a project opens, closes or moves into another stage;
• eligibility conditions change;
• new official data becomes available;
• additional reliable context materially improves the usefulness of the article.

Dates and Updates

A publication or modified date should reflect a real publishing or editorial update event.

Articles should not receive a new modified date solely to make old information appear newly published.

Rankings and Reviews

If a factual error affects a ranking, review or comparison, Dubai Times may correct the underlying information and reassess the result where appropriate.

Commercial Independence

Advertisers, businesses and commercial organisations do not receive special authority to require a correction simply because coverage is unfavourable.

Correction decisions are based on factual review and available evidence, not advertising relationships or commercial pressure.

Content Removal

Dubai Times does not automatically remove accurate reporting because a person, company or organisation dislikes it.

Requests involving privacy, safety, legal concerns or other exceptional circumstances may require separate editorial consideration.

Corrections Involving Higher-Risk Information

Potential errors involving finance, property, residency, immigration, healthcare, public safety, legal requirements or other consequential subjects may require additional review because inaccurate information can materially affect reader decisions.
