Emirates NBD has given Team AeroSpace a dual-term loan to build a massive independent aircraft maintenance center at Al Maktoum International Airport. The project will boost Dubai's aviation sector and create skilled jobs.

Construction crews will soon break ground at Al Maktoum International Airport. Emirates NBD has signed off on a dual-term capital expenditure loan for Team AeroSpace. This funding clears the way for one of the region's largest independent aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) centers. The deal is confirmed by Al Khaleej and appears in UAE government aviation records. Dubai is not holding back. This project is a centerpiece for the emirate's industrial and economic plans.

The scale is hard to miss. The new facility will rise inside the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub. It will have an 18,000-square-metre, fully air-conditioned hangar built under a single span. The total built-up area will reach nearly 26,000 square metres. Up to 12 narrow-body or five wide-body aircraft can be serviced at once. Both Boeing and Airbus models are covered. The technical details are clear: 12 hangar doors, four overhead cranes, and seven ground service pits. These numbers match the UAE's push for top-tier aviation infrastructure, as shown in General Civil Aviation Authority documentation.

Strategic financing for Dubai's aviation plans

This is more than a loan. Emirates NBD is betting on Dubai's long-term aviation goals. Ahmed Al Qassim, Group Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking at Emirates NBD, has tied the financing to Dubai's aim to become a global aviation hub. The move fits with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the UAE Vision 2031. Government leaders want to grow high-value industries. That's a regular theme in reports from the Emirates News Agency (WAM) and the Dubai Media Office.

The technical backbone is strong. The site will add 8,000 square metres of workshops, warehouses, and offices. There will be 12 hangar doors, four overhead cranes, and seven ground service pits. All are set up to speed up maintenance and cut aircraft downtime. This MRO cluster should draw both regional and international airlines. Dubai South is becoming a magnet for aviation and engineering firms.

What the new hub means for Dubai

Once the doors open, the UAE's aircraft maintenance capacity will jump. Airlines will see faster turnaround for scheduled work. The local aviation supply chain will need more skilled workers and technical services. The project is part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub. This cluster was built to create a full aviation and logistics ecosystem around Al Maktoum International. The plan follows directives from the UAE Cabinet and the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).

Team AeroSpace's Chairman, Timur Shah Shihab, called the deal the start of a long-term partnership. He said Emirates NBD's reputation and reach in the UAE and abroad made the bank the right choice. The project will create hundreds of skilled jobs. That supports Dubai's push for a knowledge-based economy. This goal comes up often in WAM state news agency releases.

For Emirates NBD, this is not a one-off. The bank has a track record of backing projects with real industrial and economic value. Its recent award for social and environmental impact, as reported earlier, shows a wider focus on sustainable, high-impact investments. The move fits with the UAE's drive to attract foreign investment and boost the appeal of free zones like Dubai South and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Dubai's aviation sector is changing fast. By building up local MRO capacity, the city is setting itself up as a global center for aircraft maintenance. That means more efficient airlines and more skilled jobs. Dubai's planners are not settling for small steps. They want world-class infrastructure. Emirates NBD's latest loan is a direct bet on that future.
