Ticket sales are now live for Etihad Rail's new passenger trains linking Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Fujairah. The booking window opened with little fanfare, but the impact is big. Trains will start running from Al Yalayis station on 30 September. For the first time, residents and visitors can travel directly between these emirates by rail. Prices are lower than most other options. This is a major change for the UAE's transport scene.
The launch fits into the UAE Vision 2031 and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. Both plans call for better, greener ways to connect the emirates. The Emirates News Agency (WAM) has pointed out that this project is a key part of those goals.
Look at the fares. A one-way 'Comfort Class' ticket from Al Yalayis to Abu Dhabi's Mohammed Bin Zayed station costs AED 39. The same class to Fujairah is just AED 29. Want more comfort? 'Premium Class' is AED 109 to Abu Dhabi or AED 89 to Fujairah. These prices are set in the online booking system. The system is open now for advance reservations. According to Khaleej Times reporting, tickets are available on both the official website and the mobile app. That means anyone in the UAE can book easily.
Journey times and daily schedules
The trains are fast. Dubai to Abu Dhabi takes just one hour and four minutes. Dubai to Fujairah is 69 minutes. The first train leaves Al Yalayis at 6:14am and gets to Abu Dhabi at 7:18am. The first return from Abu Dhabi departs at 6:43am and arrives in Dubai at 7:47am. For Fujairah, the earliest train from Dubai leaves at 1:57pm and arrives at 3:07pm. The first return from Fujairah is at 11:54am, reaching Dubai at 1:04pm. These times match the efficiency standards set by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. That ministry has overseen the national rail rollout.
Etihad Rail will run 13 trains for this service. Each train can carry up to 400 passengers. Tickets can be booked up to four weeks ahead. That gives commuters and travelers time to plan. The National reports that Dubai and Al Dhaid stations will both open on 30 September. The network is growing. The UAE wants more people to use public transport and fewer cars on the road.
What this means for Dubai residents
Years of waiting are over. Dubai is now linked by rail to other emirates. The AED 29 fare to Fujairah stands out. It's cheaper than driving or taking a bus. The train is also faster and more comfortable. With trips under 70 minutes and new trains, the service will attract both daily commuters and weekend travelers. This move supports Dubai's push to be a global business and tourism hub. That fits with Reuters coverage of the city's FDI growth targets.
Dubai's role as a transport and economic center keeps growing. Recent coverage shows the city's rising profile. The new rail link will make Dubai even more connected and attractive. For residents, this means more choices, less time in traffic, and a new level of public transport between major cities.
Opening bookings before the first trains run shows Etihad Rail is ready. The company is focused on smooth operations and a good passenger experience. Low fares, quick trips, and advance booking set a new standard for UAE intercity travel. The network is coming online. Dubai's place as a mobility leader is now real. The National and Gulf News have both confirmed the launch.
