Dubai's Social Media Summit is redefining the future of digital platforms, spotlighting the urgent need for responsible content creation and practical innovation as leading voices gather to shape the next phase of the Arab world's digital landscape.

Dubai's Social Media Summit has thrown down a challenge to content creators and digital platforms across the Arab world: adapt, innovate, and take responsibility for the impact of your work. The event, hosted by the Dubai Press Club under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the direction of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is not just another industry gathering-it is a direct intervention in how digital influence is wielded in the region.

At the heart of the summit is a clear message: the era of unchecked digital content is over. Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and Chairperson of the Dubai Press Club, made it explicit: since 2015, the summit has pushed for higher standards in Arabic content, demanding that creators deliver tangible positive impact. "We are committed to making the summit a platform for real exchange and collaboration, driving more innovative and responsible Arabic content," she stated.

Digital platforms face scrutiny and new expectations

This year's agenda is packed with sessions that go beyond theory. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, is set to address the realities of "media and fifth-generation warfare," a topic that underscores the security stakes of digital communication. Meanwhile, content creators such as Roaa Al Jallad, Omar Qasqas, and Musab Al Tweijri will dissect the tools and strategies behind influential content, with financial journalist Nourhan Abu Samra moderating the discussion.

Sessions are not limited to content mechanics. The summit is tackling the blurred lines between expertise and influence, with medical professionals like Dr Anwar Al Hammadi and Dr Talal Al Muhaysen debating the credibility gap between doctors and online personalities. The question is simple: who should the public trust?

Platforms and creators under the microscope

Major digital players are not escaping scrutiny. Ryan Kraki, General Manager of Amazon Ad in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, will join a session titled "Amazon: What Deserves Your Attention?"-a direct probe into the priorities of global tech giants in the region. TikTok's regional operations lead, Kinda Ibrahim, will address the platform's role in driving the digital economy, a topic that has become impossible to ignore as TikTok's influence grows in the Middle East.

Women creators are also taking centre stage, with Saba Shamma, Abeer Al Saghir, and Israa Nabil discussing how to achieve borderless reach through digital platforms, in conversation with content creator Walid Al Masrati. The summit is not shying away from the commercial realities either, with sessions on how social media shapes economic decisions, featuring experts like Samah Al Hajri and content creators Ahmed Al Jamal and Mohannad Al Wadiya.

AI and the next phase of content creation

The summit's closing sessions are set to confront the future head-on. A panel on "Employing Artificial Intelligence in Content Creation" will bring together creators Hassan Thamer, Hakam Al Qaiqi, and Sara Younes, with Abdullah Al Sharhan from Sharjah Media City leading the discussion. The focus: how AI is already reshaping the way content is produced, distributed, and consumed in the Arab world.

Throughout, the summit's organisers have made it clear that this is not about empty rhetoric. As Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, put it, the event is designed for "practical, actionable ideas" that can be implemented by creators and platforms alike. The goal is to ensure the summit remains the region's most relevant forum for digital influence, not just a talking shop for industry insiders.

Dubai's Social Media Summit is now setting the standard for digital responsibility and innovation in the Arab world. The days of passive content consumption are numbered. With government, industry, and creators all in the same room, the message is unmistakable: those who shape the digital conversation must now answer for its real-world consequences. The summit's agenda is a wake-up call-Dubai expects its digital leaders to deliver substance, not just noise.
